Canva’s users, revenue, and global reach
Canva’s 2025 scale is the clearest starting point for understanding the platform’s place in visual communication. In Canva 2025 in review, the company reported 260 million monthly users and $3.5 billion in revenue during 2025. These are company-reported figures for that year, rather than an independently verified estimate.
The platform’s international footprint is also broad. Canva reported that Canva Education was active in more than 190 countries, with 100 million teachers, students, and education leaders using Canva every month. Earlier company reporting also described Canva as available in 100 languages. Together, those figures indicate a service designed for a worldwide audience, with education representing a particularly large use case.
The reported user totals have grown markedly over time, although the measurement periods and definitions differ across announcements:
| Reported period or milestone | Reported figure | Source label |
|---|---|---|
| Early 2014 update | 5 million users worldwide | Exciting news here at Canva! |
| Early growth stage, after 20 months | 2.4 million users | Canva for Work announcement |
| 2023 | More than 170 million people worldwide | Celebrating Canva’s growth in the US |
| 2025 | 260 million monthly users | Canva 2025 in review |
The early announcements should be read as historical snapshots, not as current totals. In the early growth-stage announcement, 65% of Canva users had joined during the previous six months. That same announcement said users had created more than 15 million designs and that more than 200,000 companies and organizations were represented on the platform. Some organizations had as many as 180 employees using Canva.
Design creation and collaboration
Canva’s design volume provides another view of adoption. Celebrating Canva’s growth in the US reported that more than 20 billion designs had been created by the end of 2023, including 3.8 billion designs created in the United States. The same source said that more than 90% of Fortune 500 companies were using Canva.
In Meet your 2025 Design DNA, Canva reported more than 12 billion designs created in 2025. Social content accounted for more than 2 billion designs. Users also left 155.9 million comments on designs and translated creations more than 17 million times during 2025. Brand Kit was used 5 billion times in that report. These activity measures describe actions and creations reported for 2025; they are not necessarily unique-user counts.
An earlier collaboration milestone reported more than 40 million monthly users and an increase of more than 25% in just four months. The number of people collaborating on designs had almost doubled since June, according to that announcement. The changing time windows matter: a four-month increase, a 2023 year-end total, and a 2025 activity total are different types of measurements and should not be treated as one continuous series.
The early 2014 update offered a useful snapshot of community activity. Canva said its five million users had created more than 35 million designs, including 5.7 million designs in the last reported month. Users had also written 14,560 blog posts about Canva and created 19,500 YouTube videos about the platform. These figures reflect activity reported in that historical update and are not current platform totals.
Education, inclusion, and social impact
Canva’s education reach was reported at 100 million monthly teachers, students, and education leaders in 2025, with activity in more than 190 countries. The company also partnered with the University of California to bring Canva to more than 500,000 students, according to Celebrating Canva’s growth in the US.
The platform’s inclusion-related library figures show both content volume and change over time. Diverse content library reported 147,000 Pride-focused templates, 3.4 million Pride-focused elements, and more than 880 million LGBTQIA+-related designs created by Canva community members. The same source reported 185% growth in different-ability content since 2021 and the addition of more than 2,300 photographs showing different abilities. It also reported 100% growth in new Australian First Nations artists contributing Indigenous art directly to Canva. The growth figures use the comparison periods stated by Canva and do not specify an absolute starting count.
Canva also reported several social-impact measurements for 2025. It committed another $100 million to GiveDirectly, saying the donation would help 185,000 more people living in extreme poverty. Through One Print, One Tree, the company reported planting more than 10 million trees. More than 1,400 Canvanauts volunteered across 63 community events during Force for Good Days, while more than 5,000 Canvanauts participated in AI Discovery Week, contributing more than 25,000 hours of hands-on AI exploration.
The Canva Impact Wrap 2025 reported $390,000 in employee donations during 2025. Canva matched those donations dollar for dollar, delivering $758,000 to causes worldwide. In the United States, Canvanauts spent more than 1,400 hours supporting nonprofit organizations in 2023, and the US community planted more than 2.8 million trees from Canva Print orders during that year.
Business adoption and workplace performance
Canva’s business adoption figures span organizations, industries, and enterprise outcomes. The 2023 US growth report said more than 90% of Fortune 500 companies were using Canva. A separate The Total Economic Impact of Canva Enterprise study reported that Canva Enterprise was trusted by 95% of the Fortune 500.
Those statements use different wording and come from different source labels, so they should not be combined into a single adoption rate. The Enterprise study also reported a 414% total return on investment, $7.5 million in total benefits, a 300% increase in marketer productivity, and $2.2 million in agency cost savings. These are estimates from the Forrester Total Economic Impact study, not universal results for every Canva Enterprise customer.
Business activity was visible in sector-specific figures as well. The US news community used Canva newsroom templates 70,000 times per month on average, according to the 2023 US growth report. Entertainment organizations actively using Canva increased by almost 20% in the previous 12 months, while the number of designs those organizations published grew by more than 80%. The report also said Canva’s US-based team grew to more than 200 people.
The platform’s professional resources have expanded over time. In a collaboration milestone, Canva Pro offered more than 70 million images, 2.5 million videos, and 25,000 audio tracks. Another company update said Canva had brought more than 500,000 popular music tracks to the platform. Canva also supported more than 17,000 nonprofits with free premium access.
Visual communication and career skills
For personal brands and career development, Canva’s workplace research points to visual communication as a practical professional skill. In the Visual Economy Report, 85% of global business leaders gave visuals more authority than other communication methods. The report also said 89% believed visual communication tools contributed to return on investment, while another 89% said communicating visually helped them articulate ideas better. In addition, 88% agreed that visual communication tools had accelerated sales cycles.
The same report identified barriers and expectations. Twenty-six percent of leaders struggled to get through text-dominant content. Sixty-one percent said design acumen was table stakes, and 63% provided visual design training to people in non-design roles. People listing Canva as a skill on LinkedIn rose 104% in the previous 12 months, according to the report. That is a reported change over the stated period, not a claim that 104% of LinkedIn users list Canva.
Canva’s design-literacy article reported that around 600 new starters joined during the year discussed. It also said 95% of business leaders expected employees to possess design skills and knowledge, while 90% said employees understood what was expected from a design perspective and knew where to turn for design help.
The same article placed visual communication in a generational context. By 2025, 27% of the workforce in OECD countries was estimated to be Gen Z. Among Gen Z respondents, 93% said communicating visually helped them articulate ideas better, and 94% prioritized cross-team collaboration when evaluating visual communication platforms. The 27% figure is an estimate for OECD-country workforces, while the two survey results describe respondents rather than all Gen Z workers.
For someone building a personal brand, these figures support a specific interpretation: visual communication is increasingly treated as part of ordinary professional work, not only as a specialist design responsibility. The data does not establish that Canva alone causes better career outcomes, but it does show reported employer expectations, collaboration preferences, and demand for design fluency.
Canva’s library and popular searches
Canva’s content library and search activity offer a final perspective on how people use the platform. In the 15 billion designs milestone, Canva said its community had created 15 billion published designs and reached more than 110 million people worldwide each month. That milestone is a historical company report and should not be substituted for the later 2023 or 2025 figures.
The same milestone report listed several highly used or searched elements. Apple was the top food element, with 18,325,182 uses. Frame was the top searched word, with 203,427,852 uses. Line was searched 140,930,764 times, Arrow was searched 126,436,147 times, and Circle was searched 109,281,025 times. These are platform search or usage counts reported for that milestone, not measures of the number of people who used each term.
The 2025 Design DNA figures add current context to those historical search counts: more than 2 billion social-content designs were created in 2025, users left 155.9 million comments, and Brand Kit was used 5 billion times. For creators, marketers, educators, and professionals, the pattern is consistent across the reported measures: Canva is being used for high-volume creation, collaboration, brand consistency, translation, and visual publishing across personal, educational, nonprofit, and business settings.
